Stop ignoring black girls
This article brings back painful memories of 3rd grade. My teacher made no secret about how she felt about her black students, and she derided me for actually being a good student. I hated going to school that year and often faked being sick to avoid interacting with that woman. My grades were excellent, but my soul was crushed.
By the grace of God, that woman got pregnant and went on maternity leave. My enthusiasm and spirit toward school recovered under the encouragement of the substitute.
Racism can have a horrendous effect on everyone, especially children. Our daughters need our voices and advocacy, just like our sons. http://www.washingtonpost.com/posteverything/wp/2015/02/25/racism-in-schools-affects-black-girls-even-more-than-boys-so-why-dont-they-get-as-much-attention/
