Eloquence - Persuasive speaking or writing. Fluency. Expressiveness. Beyond typical notions of "articulate".
Racism - The institutional social and governing practice of using race to subjugate, demoralize, and/or cripple a
group of people. Racism can only be executed by those with social, economic and governing power.
Race - While historically understood as a group of people descended from a common ancestor, or a group of
people sharing a common culture, it has nothing to do with appearance, phenotype, or genetics. Race is a concept, created to uphold white supremacy and justify governance and subjugation.
Racist - Someone who uses racism and race for their advantage (both actively and passively). Obviously they have
to be someone in a position of power. They are also, obviously, jerks.
Sexism - The institutional social and governing practice of using gender to subjugate, demoralize, and/or cripple
a gender. Sexism can only be executed by those with social or governing power.
Black - Ain't got nothin to do with skin color. Black was originally a category of subjugation,
placed upon colonized people (by European colonists), ultimately as a way of establishing supremacy. Skin color is so dismissive of the totality of history and culture. Conversely, it has been reappropriated as a both a cultural and social identifier. #Progress #Unity
Blackness - A category of identification. Often problematic because it is based on a flawed concept.
Occasionally uplifting because it allows a point of connection for diverse communities.
Black Feminism - Black Feminism argues that sexism, class oppression, and racism are inextricably
bound together. Who wouldn't want to identify as a Black Feminist? We so smart.
Prejudice - Stop conflating prejudice and racism! They are not the same thing! While racism is rooted in
institutional social/economic/governing power, prejudice is an unfounded personal bias. Prejudice is individual. Prejudice is anecdotal. When someone calls me a n*gger, that's prejudice. When the government calls me a n*gger, that's racism.
As Humpty Dumpty said, "When I use a word, it means just what I choose it to mean — neither more nor less."
